Blessing of St. Therese of Lisieux

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are
exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite
possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you
have received, and pass on the love
that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you
are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your
bones, and allow your soul the
freedom to sing, dance, praise
and love.

It is there for each and every one
of us.

Dear Jerome and Little Flower friends,

Thank you for your recent email. It is with much gratitude that I read your message. Thank you for your interest for the sake of our mission and of the Malagasy population, in particular Antsakabary. Yes, time flies. For Europe and the United States, spring begins. Normally, here is the end of the rainy season. Indeed, the rains came late this year with the arrival of Enawo cyclone. It has not done much damage in our area but there was plenty of water in some places. Our communities have not been much affected.

Regarding (the reports of violence in) Antsakabary, I can not provide accurate information because I have not met the Sisters of Antsakabary because of the impassable roads and the communication is not easy. You have to walk to get there (no telephone service). For the second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday, the Bishop will go on foot to celebrate mass in places that were destroyed.

Yes, the Sisters give food to people with the funds that have been collected. Many people also come for healthcare at our clinic. The school of Tavenina (which your funds helped to build) was not affected but the students' families have no homes or enough food to eat because everything went up in flames. These are the villages around Tavenina. The police made people walk by kneeling. We saw a report on the knees bloodied with wounds. An elderly person was burned in her hut because she could not get out and the others did not have the ability to get her out in time.

Yes, there was a lot of violence in recent days in Madagascar. It takes a lot to pray for the country. Thank you for the funds that were collected for Antsakabary. It will help people rebuild their homes.

This year we have 7 novices who began the first year of training. In Fianarantsoa, there are 9postulants who will novices from the month of September. Thank you for you prayers for vocations and your prayrful support of our the novices.
When I have more news on Antsakabary I'll let you know.

In Christ,
Sr. Alphonse Marie, SDP
